Schweikert Again Puts Extremism Ahead of Arizona Families

PHOENIX — Honest Arizona’s Executive Director Andrea Moreno released the following statement after Congressman Schweikert voted against an appropriations package to keep the government open and fund WIC, a critical service that guarantees reliable nutrition assistance to low-income families with children.

“For the second time in as many weeks, Congressman Schweikert voted to shut down government agencies and hurt thousands of Arizona families, especially low-income mothers and their babies and young children whose access to food assistance was included in this bill. Congressman Schweikert has no problem voting for tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and corporations but he can't be asked to lift a finger for those in need. It's time for Schwiekert to stop putting right-wing extremism ahead of Arizonans’ lives who would be in jeopardy if his priorities became law.”
