Ciscomani, Schweikert Must Oppose Congressional Republicans’ Plot to Cut Benefits to Fund New Tax Breaks for The Wealthy
PHOENIX — Honest Arizona is urging Congressmen Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert to oppose Congressional Republican plans to cut funding for health care and other benefits to fund new tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and corporations.
The Republicans’ proposals, which could devastate Arizona families, include:
Cuts to Medicaid that could trigger a rollback of the Arizona AHCCCS program that provides coverage to over 500,000 low-income Arizonans
Elimination of the Inflation Reduction Act’s prescription drug price setting that has lowered the cost of some of the most expensive and heavily prescribed medications for Arizonans on Medicare
Undo the Inflation Reduction Act’s cost-saving tax credits that help over 300,000 Arizonans afford health care coverage through the ACA Marketplace
Cuts to nutrition assistance that nearly 1 million Arizonans rely on
“Congressmen Schweikert and Ciscomani need to tell Arizonans where they stand and vote against any of their colleagues’ proposals to cut access to health care or nutrition assistance just to fund new tax breaks for billionaires and corporations,” said Andrea Moreno, executive director of Honest Arizona. “At a time when the cost of food, health care, and everything else keeps rising, Arizonans need their elected leaders to defend the benefits they rely on.”
