Honest Arizona: Don’t Jack Up The Cost of Cars And Car Parts

PHOENIX — Those not keeping score (like the CBO) might not be aware that President Trump’s and Congressional Republicans’ plan to pay for massive tax breaks for the wealthy by imposing new tariffs will raise prices on everyday goods, including cars and car parts, but Honest Arizona wants Arizonans to know more and urge Congressman David Schweikert to oppose this harmful plan.

According to Car & Driver:

With a significant number of vehicles on American roads built in Mexico or Canada, a 25 percent tariff could have a huge impact on new-car prices and, in some cases, could lead to the discontinuation of models if higher prices lead to a significant drop in demand. Along with higher vehicle prices, the tariffs could affect automotive parts and disrupt supply chains, affecting vehicles assembled in the U.S. and potentially leading to job losses for American workers.

Honest Arizona took that message to Arizona’s First Congressional District this weekend with a mobile billboard to inform auto enthusiasts at the Barrett Jackson Car Show about the harmful impact of using Trump’s tariffs to pay for massive tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations.

Republicans in Congress are considering using higher tariffs to pay for extending the 2017 GOP Tax Law, which has benefited the ultra-wealthy over working Arizonans:
