Upcoming Deadline for Arizonans Seeking Health Care Coverage in 2025

More than 300,000 Arizonans Rely on Tax Credits to Afford Monthly Premiums

PHOENIX — Arizonans seeking Affordable Care Act health care coverage in 2025 have a critical deadline coming up: for those seeking coverage on January 1, they have until December 15 to review their options and sign up for a coverage plan on healthcare.gov.

This year, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, more low- and middle-income Arizonans than ever before can access affordable health insurance. Tax credits provided by the IRA have reduced premium costs significantly, making it possible for families across our state to obtain coverage that meets their needs while saving them money. In 2024, over 300,000 Arizonans benefited from the IRA’s health care tax credits.

Republicans in Congress have said numerous times that the Affordable Care Act and the Inflation Reduction Act could be on the chopping block. In fact, Republicans are already considering cuts to programs that tens of millions of Americans rely on to afford food and health care in order to fund extending cuts for the wealthy, including cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

“Affordable health care isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity," said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. "The Inflation Reduction Act's tax credits mean more families can afford health care coverage, and we encourage them to enroll before this weekend's deadline.”

Open enrollment closes on January 15, 2025, and Arizonans should visit healthcare.gov to explore their options and see if they qualify for subsidized coverage.
