ABOUT THE Fellowship:

Advancing AZ is looking for a fellow to organize outreach and events in AZ-01 to help advocate for economic policies that work for everyday people and mobilize partners, community leaders, and constituents on key issues to hold Congressman David Schweikert accountable for his voting record on economic policy in Congress.

The Organizing Fellow is eager to learn about and apply organizing best practices in order to garner media attention, takes a creative approach to recruiting volunteers and key messengers, and can communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Inform the community about federal economic policies that impact their families and communities.

  • Work with the Communications Director, who is responsible for press interactions, and the Digital Manager, who is responsible for digital content, to amplify personal stories and spread the word about your organizing activities online and in the media.

  • Support press and digital efforts for your district.

About you:

  • You are proactive and have exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • You are an effective communicator capable of coordinating between various stakeholders and making policy and politics relatable and accessible to working people.

  • You are passionate about progressive politics and are committed to working towards more inclusive and equitable public policy.

  • You have experience working with diverse communities.

  • You are calm under pressure and nimble in a changing campaign environment.

  • You have an inclusive, community-first, and deeply human approach to organizing.

  • You are willing and able to travel.

In addition, it would be a bonus if:

  • You have a familiarity with our issue areas.

  • You have experience building and recruiting for in-person events that garner earned media attention.

  • Are someone who consumes local and national news and is interested in communicating on progressive issues critical to working families.

  • Are familiar with how to communicate about our issue areas.

  • Are familiar with issues important to state and district residents.

  • Have a connection to the state and its communities, such as having lived or worked there.

  • Are fluent in both English and Spanish.

Pay Structure:

  • The hourly stipend is $20 per hour, with a maximum of 35 hours per week.
