Biden-Harris Administration Announces Lower Costs of 10 Drugs Thanks to First-Ever Medicare Prescription Price Negotiation Mandated by the Inflation Reduction Act

9 out of 10 Drugs Included in Negotiations See a More Than 50% Discount in Price

TUCSON — The Biden-Harris administration today announced the results of the first-ever Medicare price negotiations, a key provision of the Inflation Reduction Act, to reduce prescription drug costs for millions of Medicare beneficiaries.

According to Axios, "The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services last summer chose 10 drugs that account for some of the highest total costs for Medicare, including Bristol Myers Squibb and Pfizer's blood-thinner Eliquis and Boehringer Ingelheim's diabetes drug Jardiance."

Doug Hart, a Tempe resident who is prescribed Eliquis, said that the prescription drug negotiation is "going to be a tremendous savings for me and I'm sure millions of Americans that are really struggling." Thanks to these negotiations, Doug and over 70,000 other Arizonans will see a 56% discount on their monthly Eliquis prescription.
