Biden Visits AZ to Champion Job-Creating Laws Schweikert Voted Against
Schweikert voted against Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, CHIPS Act, Inflation Reduction Act
PHOENIX — President Biden is visiting Arizona today to champion his Investing in America agenda that includes three key laws – the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act – which Congressman David Schweikert voted against.
As a result of those bills being enacted by President Biden, Arizona has seen a boom in high-tech manufacturing and clean energy investment from the private sector and opened up grants and tax credits for homeowners, community groups, and small businesses to lower their energy costs. In fact, Congressman Schweikert praised one such project despite voting against the law that made it possible: the Inflation Reduction Act.
Biden’s successful Invest in America agenda:
Helped add 340,000 new jobs in Arizona
Spurred over $80 billion in private sector investment in Arizona
Expanded access to broadband internet for over 522,000 Arizona households
Provided up to $7,500 tax credits for electric vehicle purchases
Invested over $4.5 billion in needed infrastructure improvements
President Biden’s recently released budget would expand on many of the cost-saving provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act, continue investing in critical infrastructure, and create more good-paying jobs.
“President Biden’s agenda is a job creator and a cost saver for Arizonans, but unfortunately Congressman Schweikert voted against every one of the laws that have made Arizona a nationwide success story,” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. “Congressman Schweikert needs to stop opposing President Biden’s Investing in America agenda and support the President’s budget that will further lower costs for Arizonans.”
