House Moves Ahead on Funding the Government Despite Ciscomani Spending Months Voting For Harmful Cuts to Critical Services for Arizonans

TUCSON — Honest Arizona executive director Andrea Moreno released the following statement after the House of Representatives advanced a government funding package earlier today. Congressman Juan Ciscomani, who sits on the Republican-controlled House Appropriations Committee, spent months voting for cuts to the critical services for Arizonans.

“Congressman Ciscomani sits on the Appropriations Committee yet voted for cuts to medical research, public education, community health centers, and threatened to lengthen wait times for Arizonans on Social Security and Medicare. During that same time, Congressman Ciscomani sided with wealthy tax cheats and voted to shield them from having to pay their fair share. Congressman Ciscomani needs to back his constituents by supporting President Biden’s budget for the next fiscal year, which would keep lowering health care and prescription drug costs and protect Social Security and Medicare.”
