CHIPS Act Invests Billions In Jobs, Manufacturing In Arizona Two Years Since Enactment
Congressman David Schweikert Voted ‘No’
PHOENIX — The bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act is investing billions of dollars in jobs in high-tech manufacturing in Arizona two years since it was enacted.
Earlier this year, the Biden-Harris administration used CHIPS Act funding to grant TSMC, a world leader in semiconductor manufacturing with a factory in the West Valley, $6 billion to support the company’s expansion in Arizona – resulting in 6,000 direct manufacturing jobs in Arizona and supporting tens of thousands of jobs over the next several years.
The CHIPS Act passed over widespread Republican opposition, including a ‘no’ vote from Congressman David Schweikert, despite its projected and proven benefits for Arizona.
"Arizonans are already seeing the massive benefits of the CHIPS Act and we can expect even more to come," said Honest Arizona executive director Andrea Moreno. "It's disappointing that Congressman Schweikert refused to invest in American manufacturing that is providing tangible benefits for his own constituents and national security by voting against this bill. It's time for him to start voting to create good-paying jobs in Arizona."
