Community Leaders to Juan Ciscomani: Work to Lower Costs, Make Corporations Pay Their Fair Share
TUCSON — Honest Arizona and Tucson-area community leaders gathered today to urge Congressman Juan Ciscomani to work to lower costs and make corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share in taxes.
As a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, Congressman Ciscomani recently voted for a handful of funding bills that make drastic cuts to measures that support Arizona families and lower costs, including cuts to K-12 education and making it harder for retirees to access their Social Security and Medicare benefits.
Speakers today highlighted Congressman Ciscomani’s voting record on economic issues and urged him to change course.
Congressman Ciscomani and his colleagues have voted against lower energy costs for Arizonans while at the same time they’ve voted to protect corporate and wealthy tax cheats,” said Arizona Senator Priya Sundareshan. “Congressman Ciscomani needs to put the people of Arizona first: vote for lower costs, support legislation that tackles corporate greed and prioritize the needs of his constituents over the wealthy few.”
“As retirees we live on a fixed income relying on Social Security and our savings, and the rising costs have eroded our purchasing power making it harder to afford essentials like prescription drugs and groceries,” said Luci Messing, a retired teacher living in Tucson. “The lack of action on inflation and rising costs threaten the economic security of retirees across Arizona. Congressman Ciscomani must stand up for retirees, vote for lower costs, and ensure that our senior citizens can live with dignity and security.”
