Honest Arizona: Schweikert, Ciscomani Must Oppose Cuts to The Department of Education To Pay For Tax Breaks For Billionaires

PHOENIX — Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona, released the following statement after the Trump administration announced it would eliminate nearly half the staff at the Department of Education:

“As a parent of young children, I know firsthand how important strong public schools are for our children’s future. Cuts to the Department of Education will be devastating for Arizona’s students, teachers, and families – particularly those in rural or low-income communities. Severe cuts to the Department of Education threaten the success of thousands of Arizona students – all to give tax breaks for billionaires and corporations. Congressmen David Schweikert and Juan Ciscomani must put Arizona’s students first and reject any attempt to dismantle the Department of Education and to block this extreme attempt to hurt Arizona families.”
