Honest Arizona: Trump’s Tariffs Will Be a Tax on Working Families

PHOENIX — Honest Arizona Executive Director Andrea Moreno released the following statement in response to the Inauguration of President Donald Trump, who has pledged to enacting sweeping tariffs upon taking office to extend and expand the 2017 GOP Tax Law:

“Arizonans made clear that they want the incoming administration and Congress to lower prices, but using tariffs as a hidden tax on working families to pay for tax cuts for corporations and the ultra-wealthy will raise prices at our expense . We encourage our elected leaders to stand up for Arizonans and push back against misguided economic policies that prioritize the ultra-wealthy and corporations and instead protect programs that Arizonans actually need – like tax credits that help them afford health insurance, food assistance, Medicare, and Social Security.
