ICYMI: The Inflation Reduction Act is Powering Arizona's Clean Energy Future

Rep. Schweikert Voted Against the Inflation Reduction Act, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, & CHIPS Act

PHOENIX — Despite Congressman David Schweikert voting against them, the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law are powering Arizona's clean energy boom and creating jobs in Arizona—emphasizing how these landmark pieces of legislation are driving job creation, economic growth, and sustainability in the state.

Schweikert was one of a handful of right-wing members of Congress who voted against the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the CHIPS Act, all of which have had major contributions to Arizona's economy and helped create over 300,000 Arizona jobs.

Reetika Dhawan, the Entrepreneurial College CEO and vice president of workforce and healthcare programs at Arizona Western College, wrote:

“[the solar] industry is growing in large part due to the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) that are boosting America’s clean energy sector and fostering job creation in Arizona.

“Arizonans are already seeing the rewards of this law. The commercial grid, housing and various institutions have already witnessed the transformative power of solar installations.

“Homeowners, businesses and other community leaders are taking advantage of tax credits that reduce the cost of installation by 30% – making access to solar more affordable now and helping to cut down on their energy costs in the future.

“As the demand for skilled workers in solar installation and maintenance grows, institutions like ours prepare students to meet the evolving needs of the industry. The IRA also expanded grants that help us grow our programs and reach more aspiring students.

“Bringing the clean energy initiative to Arizona is not just about sustainability; it’s about fostering economic growth and creating jobs. Solar energy is not only a practical solution to reducing carbon emissions but it also drives economic development.

“The Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law are game-changers for our students and our community. By investing in clean energy education and workforce development, we are creating pathways to prosperity and building a more sustainable future for all. Together, let’s harness the power of federal legislation to fuel clean energy job growth and ensure a brighter tomorrow for generations to come.”
