NEW AD: 'Whole Life' Highlights Schweikert's Threats to Make Older Arizonans Work Longer, Earn Less
Schweikert Voted 12 Times to Cut Social Security or Medicare
PHOENIX —Advancing AZ continued its multi-million dollar grassroots campaign today and launched a new ad featuring Deborah, a Valley resident and one of Congressman David Schweikert's constituents, Deborah, who calls out Congressman Schweikert for his 12 votes to cut Social Security or Medicare and for his record in favor of raising the retirement age.
Nearly 1 in 5 Arizonans rely on Social Security benefits—approximately 1,468,715 million people. AARP estimates that 45 percent of Arizona residents 65 and older rely on Social Security for at least half of their income.
Ad Script:
Deborah:
“You know, I worked my whole life to finally be able to retire.
“But David Schweikert wants to raise the retirement age.”
Rep Schweikert:
“Instead of taking your retirement at 62, you know, how do I get you to say, do it as 67…”
Deborah:
“And he's voted to cut Social Security or Medicare 12 times.”
Rep. Schweikert:
“Having people stay in the workforce longer really helps everyone
Deborah:
“I earned those benefits.
“Congressman, working longer and earning less won't help anyone.”
