One-Year-Old Bipartisan CHIPS Act Already Creating Arizona Jobs Despite Republican Opposition

PHOENIX — The bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, which became law a year ago, is already helping to create jobs in Arizona and make the U.S. more competitive with China.

The bill passed despite widespread Republican opposition, including a ‘no’ vote from Congressman Schweikert, whose district has seen recent economic growth as a result of semiconductor manufacturers like Intel and TSMC building plants in the Valley.

Senator Mark Kelly and industry leaders in Arizona have worked to position the state to benefit from $52 billion in investment to boost semiconductor manufacturing.

"Thanks to leaders like Senator Mark Kelly, Arizonans are just starting to see the benefits of the one-year-old CHIPS Act and we can expect even more to come," Honest Arizona executive director Andrea Moreno said. "It's disappointing that Congressman Schweiekert refused to look out for his own constituents and national security by voting against this bill. It's time for him to start putting his constituents first."
