Schweikert, Ciscomani Side With Tax Cheats (Again)
Latest Provision to Cut IRS Funding Will Add Billions to the Deficit, Let Wealthy And Corporate Tax Cheats Off The Hook
PHOENIX — Congressmen David Schweikert and Juan Ciscomani voted for an aid package today that includes provisions to cut funding for equips the IRS to go after wealthy and corporate tax cheats, but that “pay-for” will actually increase the deficit by billions of dollars.
Both Congressmen claim fiscal responsibility as a top priority, but this latest bill undermines their claim. Schweikert and Ciscomani also both voted multiple times earlier this year to cut IRS funding that was included in the Inflation Reduction Act, and as a result, the agency has been able to collect $160 million in back taxes from millionaires.
According to The Hill:
“The estimate released by the nonpartisan office said the package could cost the nation $26 billion in revenue over the next 10 years by reducing what the IRS would take in through taxes.”
“Instead of doing what's fiscally responsible, David Schweikert and Juan Ciscomani chose to side with wealthy tax cheats once again,” said Andrea Moreno, executive director of Honest Arizona. “It's time for the Congressmen to stand with Arizonans who work hard and play by the rules.”
