Ciscomani Praises American Battery Factory Despite Opposing Law That Made It Possible
Inflation Reduction Act Incentives Led to American Battery Factory, Will Create More Arizona Jobs
TUCSON — Congressman Juan Ciscomani took to Twitter this week praising recent groundbreaking for American Battery Factory’s new factory in southern Arizona and the jobs it will create despite opposing the Inflation Reduction Act last year, which made the new facility possible.
Cisomani earlier this year voted to overturn many of the Inflation Reduction Act's key provisions.
According to a recent report from clean energy group Climate Power:
“Since the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)'s landmark climate and clean energy investments became law in August 2022, companies have been racing forward with massive investments to build our clean energy future. New manufacturing in wind, solar, batteries, electric vehicles (EVs), and storage projects across the country means new, good-paying jobs for hard-working Americans.
“American Battery Factory announced a $1.2 billion investment to build a lithium battery gigafactory in Tucson, which the company projects will create 1,000 new jobs.”
“Congressman Ciscomani will vote to undermine job-creating investments in Arizona's future, but then he'll praise that same investment when it suits him,” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. “Congressman Ciscomani needs to start looking out for the people in his district who depend on new good-paying jobs instead of wealthy tax cheats and corporations.”
