Ciscomani’s Speaker Vote Puts Billionaires in Charge, Raises Costs for Everyone Else
TUCSON —Congressman Juan Ciscomani today voted in lockstep with his party in Washington to make Congressman Mike Johnson Speaker of the House – putting billionaires and corporations in charge and leaving working Arizonans behind.
And his vote is not a surprise – like Ciscomani, Johnson opposed the Inflation Reduction Act and voted with special interests to impose spending cuts to critical services, and both are members of the Republican Study Committee that proposed cutting Medicare and privatizing Social Security multiple times.
“Congressman Ciscomani today voted in lockstep with Washington Republicans to make Mike Johnson Speaker, putting billionaires in charge and leaving Arizonans, who want to see lower health care costs, in the dust,” said Andrea Moreno, Executive Director of Honest Arizona. "Congressman Ciscomani’s support for Speaker Johnson is a betrayal to the people he swore an oath to represent, and he needs to start standing up for Arizonans’ best interest.”
