Honest Arizona Hosts Tax Talk to Educate Arizonans on Trump Tax Scam’s Impact on Working Families
PHOENIX — Honest Arizona, joined by State Senator Analise Ortiz and Arizona Alliance for Retired Americans President Linda Somo, held a ‘Tax Talk’ this week to inform Arizonans of the stakes of the ongoing tax fight in Congress – with Congressional Republicans pushing a plan to cut essential benefits, like food assistance and health care access to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and corporations.
“When it comes to the federal funding cuts that we’ve seen, we’re seeing cuts to health care and cancer research, veterans benefits, and a lot of these federal agencies have grants that trickle down to the states,” said Senator Ortiz. “It really is going to take all of us staying informed and using our voices to say that we will not have our communities be trampled by this administration.”
“A lot of Trump tax scam provisions will expire at the end of the year,” said John Foti with Americans for Tax Fairness. “The overwhelming majority of those go to the top: $2.5 trillion to the individually wealthy and $1.3 trillion to corporations. Over half of the tax law benefits those who make over $400,000 a year and corporations that make more than that.”
